My art is a representation of how I interact with people, nature, emotions and my surroundings; by obsessively trying to find the order in disorder. Nature, human nature, sound, and light are always moving and changing. The chaos and unpredictability are overwhelming at times.
In my studio, I will spend hours carefully creating a chaotic surface, then spend many more hours pulling images, rhythm and patterns from the mess I created. I am always confident that there will be a meaningful image that will surface, amongst the layers of chaos, that will one day make sense.
Erica lives in Germantown TN with her husband and 2 children. She spends her days working at the beautiful Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis TN as a Museum Educator, and her nights are spent maintaining an ordered chaos at home. Her studio is in her home, so that she can paint in the early mornings before the kids wake up, and while cooking dinner.
